David-Rose films is developing a historical music documentary.
The film is the story of a group of African-American musicians who formed an association to provide mutual support for members and opportunities to present concerts of members' original compositions of creative music. In the process the musicians did much more than advance one another's creativity and concerts. They fostered many generations of outstanding musicians recognized worldwide.
The group's members have influenced other musicians in multiple genres and changed the world's musical landscape. Years later, founders and members include many highly respected artists and professors of music, as well as McArthur Genius Grant, NEA Jazz Master and Pulitzer Prize recipients.
Initial research has been performed for the documentary. Some pre-production footage has been filmed, particularly of time-sensitive special events, in preparation for production of the documentary.
